Matt Williams is a Tech Lead for Retrieval and Ranking at Coveo, a cloud-based AI search and generative experience company. He has over ten years of experience in building AI-powered discovery experiences, with particular interests in agentic retrieval, NLP, information retrieval, ML, and scalable search and discovery.

Prior to joining Coveo in 2023, Matt’s previous work in industry has been as ML Engineer, Search Engineer, and Data Scientist – with applications to recipe search, social media analysis, real-time news analysis, and search at global scale. Before entering the software industry, Matt was a Research Scientist in academia, focusing on predictive user modelling and network science. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Cardiff University, where he was also a lecturer.
